Here are the confirmed details of the Longhorn Bowl Game Live Party:

Time: 5:20am HKT (Broadcast starts at 5:30am)

Fee: Buy your own food and drinks (minimum 1 drink) and HK$20 voluntary donation to Hong Kong Texas Exes recommended
16 members have said that they will be there. As said before, we may anticipate more will be coming. One of our alumni is trying to bring 10 Michigan students/alumni to the event. Let's make sure that they will not out-number us by showing up! In any case, it is going to be a big crowd.
We will bring along our Longhorn flag. If you have your own Longhorn memorabilia that suits the event, bring them along.

During the last few days, we have received a number of replies from our members showing their interests in the Longhorn Bowl Game Live Viewing Party. This is very encouraging for us. We have 11 people saying that they will be there (Two other showed their interests but would be out-of-town). Many of our members usually just show up in our events without letting us know. So, it pretty much looks like we will have a big group and it is going to be a fun party.
Right now, we are still trying to contact the alumni organization of the University of Michigan. We have identified the leader but we have yet heard from him. In any case, if you know any Michigan alumni, please ask them to come to our event.

As you might have already known, the Longhorn football team (6, 10-1, 7-1 Big 12) has secured a berth in the Rose Bowl (http://www.rosebowl.com/), one of the 4 multi-million dollar prized BCS (Bowl Championship Series) Bowl games. This is the first time that the Longhorns play in a BCS Bowl game. The prize money is going to have a very positive impact to our school.
In the past, we asked our friends in US to tape the Longhorn bowl games and then we showed the games to our fellow alumni two weeks afterwards in a karaoke box. This year, we are trying to do something bolder. We are organizing a live viewing of the game. We have found a bar in Wanchai, Skitz Bar (http://www.skitzbar.com/), which opens 24 hours a day and is going to show the Longhorn game at our request.
The game is going to be played January 1, 2005 at 2 pm PST, which is January 2 6 am (Sunday morning) Hong Kong time. ESPN in Hong Kong will be broadcasting the game from 5:30 am. Our party will begin at the same time. We are also planning to invite alumni of the opposing team, University of Michigan Wolverines (13, 9-2, 7-1 Big 10), to join us. If everything goes well, this is going to be a really fun event. On top of that, you may stay after the Rose Bowl game to watch another BCS Bowl game, Fiesta Bowl: Utah Utes (5, 11-0, 7-0 Mountain West) vs. Pittsburgh Panthers (19, 8-3, 4-3 Big East).
At this point, we would like to gauge the interest from our alumni. Please let us know how interested you are, and we will plan the event accordingly. Let's get together that day to show some support to our school team!
